The Speedo Swimming Arm Bands Project

Challenge

Labtech, a test design house, were asked to design and produce a fully automated process for successively inflating and deflating swimming arm bands to mimic really life wear and tear.

Solution

Simmatic constructed a fully certified test box to offer adjustable inflation and deflation times, quantities and pressures. Utilising an in house programmed PLC to control a Vtec vacuum ejector for deflation, and precision regulation from KPM to inflate at irate parent lung pressure.

  • Control Gear And Door Mounted Controls - Inside the face of the door we can see the start stop functions the stainless steel gauges and the precision regulators feeding the valves for the inflate functions of the dual chamber armbands.
  • Compact Mounting Of Controls - So that the customer felt comfortable with the panel it was considered that the smaller the enclosure the better so mounted the items as compactly as possible while remaining serviceable. The small Vtec Vacuum Ejector can be seen mounted roughly central tucked tight to the control valves.
  • Control Panel - Closed, the operator is faced with a minimal amount of unconfusing controls with a 3 pin plug to give power to the PLC and an air in port and an output port for each inflation and deflation of chambers.
